Wintershall: US imposed sanctions to promote its LNG market
Anti-Russian sanctions should not be a lever to advance US economic interests, including in the supply segment of the American liquefied natural gas, according to Mario Meren, the head of the board of the German corporations Wintershall.
Currently, the rules of the game on the market actually sets the geo-economics and the business sector is becoming a tool in its hands. According to the corporation’s top management, the German government and the European Commission are protesting against the new US sanctions that have extraterritorial signs.
Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the European Union in the energy sector should be independent. Work in this area may not be subject to political influence of a third party. Energy supplies from Russia – an integral part of the EU’s energy architecture. Attempts to create a disturbance for such supplies – a threat to the energy security of the continent, said Meren. Recall Pronedra wrote earlier that the new US sanctions threaten European stability.
